Continuity Editing

If someone was walking out a building, the film wouldn’t include them walking down the stairs, for example, and would just cut to them walking out the front doors. This makes the film or scene more exciting and makes the film more enjoyable for the viewer.

“The purpose of continuity editing is to smooth over the inherent discontinuity of the editing process and to establish a logical coherence between shots.”
